Next Club Meeting

Our next meeting of the Austin North Metro Passport Rotary Club will be Monday, August 8 at 7 p.m. at Casa Chapala in North Austin. A pre-meeting social will begin at 6:30.

We are starting our new Austin North Metro Passport (ANMP) Rotary Club year with a new club management system called ClubRunner. With this system we have a new domain name, rotaryanmp.org. Rise Up RYLA Camp 2022

The ANMP Club sponsored the July 17 dinner at the District 5870 Rise Up RYLA Camp. Sarah Carriker, John Cooney, Dian Edwards, Aaron Gunderson, and Sarah Gunderson drove to the Peaceable Kingdom Camp in Killeen to assist with the meal service. It was so great to see our District 5870 RYLArians enjoying the activities and building their leadership skills. All camp counselors are graduates of RYLA and relate so well with the camp participants. Our club plans to sponsor a student to attend the 2023 Rise Up RYLA Camp.

Table of Grace Open House

Sarah Carriker, Hannah Duncan, Dian Edwards, and Sarah Gunderson attended the Table of Grace Neighborhood Night with Central Texas on July 20. This is a non-profit emergency center for foster children, aged 6-18. Their new facility is designed to provide foster children who have “aged out” of the system with services to help them transition into independent living. More information about this potential service project will be shared at our next club meeting.

Speaker will be PDG Scott Rainey, District PolioPlus Chair.

August 27 – District 5870 Membership Forum, Georgetown, 9:00 a.m. – 12 Noon.

August 29 – ANMP Club Potluck Social at Dian Edwards’ house, 1216 Rio Frio Lane, Georgetown,
6:30 – 8:00 p.m. We will begin planning for the Bowl-a-thon Fundraising in April.

Dues Reminder

Reminder that First Quarter dues are due July 31. Invoices and payment options were sent to club members by email on July 16. Please contact club treasurer Miriam Moorman with questions.

Backpack Friends

We welcomed our District Governor Shannon Coleman to meet with us at our July 11 meeting. Other guests were Assistant Governor Joe Dahlstrom and Jeff Coleman, who brought all materials needed for our club to assemble 90 sets of materials for the Backpack Friends District Project. Shannon encouraged us to embrace the “Imagine Rotary” theme throughout the year as we discover and support activities that will improve our world.
