Chris has competed in a wide range of sports, including shot put, bowling, Topgolf, swimming, and powerlifting. His dedication and perseverance have taken him to an exciting milestone: he will be representing Team Texas at the 2026 Special Olympics Games in Minnesota, competing in powerlifting.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Chris is an articulate and confident speaker who shared how sports have played a transformative role in his life. He spoke openly about overcoming his disabilities through discipline, teamwork, and the confidence he gained by participating in Special Olympics. These experiences have helped him grow into a spokesperson and advocate for Special Olympics, using his voice to inspire others and challenge perceptions.
Chris’s accomplishments extend beyond the playing field. He proudly shared that he has earned a culinary certification with honors, a testament to his hard work, focus, and commitment to excellence in all areas of his life.
His message was clear and powerful: sports create opportunity, confidence, and community. Chris’s journey embodies the spirit of Special Olympics and serves as a reminder of what can happen when individuals are supported, encouraged, and believed in.
For Rotarians and community members interested in getting involved, volunteer opportunities with Special Olympics are available. Those interested can connect through Liz Jones, UCS Specialist – Area 12 & 13, via the Special Olympics volunteer portal:
