Located on more than 60 beautifully rolling acres in Georgetown, Texas, ROCK has been providing equine-assisted services since 1998. What began as a mission to help children with disabilities has grown into a respected therapeutic center offering physical therapy, speech therapy, therapeutic horsemanship, and learning programs — all in partnership with horses. Every year, hundreds of participants — from toddlers to seniors — experience improvement in strength, balance, communication, confidence, and emotional well-being through time with these gentle animals.
At today’s presentation, Emma shared that ROCK’s herd of 42 horses plays an essential role in this healing work. Through their calm presence and movement, these horses help riders build muscle tone, flexibility, independence, and trust. Emma also highlighted ROCK’s community outreach, which serves nearly 1,200 individuals each year — including children with disabilities, veterans facing physical and emotional challenges, and adults with memory impairments.
One of the most inspiring parts of ROCK’s story is how much of its work is made possible by community support and volunteers. ROCK does not receive federal funding, and relies on friends, donors, and more than 300 volunteers per year to keep their programs running and tuition affordable for families in need. Individuals can even sponsor a horse to help cover the care — a meaningful way to contribute that directly supports these life-changing services.
Emma’s message resonated with everyone in the room: horses aren’t just companions — they are partners in healing, growth, and community connection. Through the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the nurturing environment at ROCK, lives are transformed one rhythm of the hoof at a time.
