In recognition of World Polio Day, the Rotary clubs of Austin North Metro Passport, Cedar Park, Northwest Austin, Round Rock, and Round Rock Sunrise coordinated two fundraising events in Pies and Pints for Polio. At the Pies event, our club provided an information table about the Rotary Polio Plus campaign and coordinated fundraising through raffles for home-baked pies and other items supporting the Polio Plus fund.
Individuals were also afforded the opportunity to put a (whipped cream) "pie in the face" of those willing to participate to raise additional funds. Our club president Dian Edwards was on the receiving end of one such pie, eagerly delivered by her granddaughter Hannah Duncan. At the Pints event, Finley's in Round Rock contributed a percentage of beer sales to the Polio Plus campaign.
